Harold D. Carrender, Sr. was born January 28, 1945 and departed this life Thursday, June 16, 2016 reaching the age of 71 years. He was the son of the late Luther and Lonie (Wright) Carrender.

He is survived by: his wife, Virgilia Carrender; three sons, Harold D. Carrender, Jr., Scotty James Carrender, and Mark Anthony Carrender; one daughter, Elizabeth Vicente; and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by: three sisters, Alene Piercy, Betty Riddle, and Ada George; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Luther and Lonie Carrender, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Emma Carrender.

An Army Veteran, Harold served his country bravely during the Vietnam War.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1:30 pm. Military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
