IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold
Atkinson
May 15, 1942 – August 20, 2023
Harold Atkinson was born May 15, 1942, and departed this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, reaching the age of 81 years. He was the son of (the late) Odie and Elsie (Edwards) Atkinson.
He is survived by Melissa (husband Roger) Roberts; son, Richie (wife Malissa) Atkinson; one brother, Harvey Atkinson (Christine); 6 grandchildren, Joseph Atkinson, Chelsea Shelton (Travis), Ryan Hopper (Allison), Kyle Hopper (Haley), Monica Guffey (Tyler), and Izak Roberts; 8 great-grandchildren, Layne Shelton, Lynley Shelton, Amari Hopper, Ibram Hopper, Cai Hopper, Jericho Hopper, Sayla Guffey, and Embry Guffey; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Joan (Ramsey) Atkinson; 2 brothers, Bill and Kenneth Atkinson; and 3 sisters, Marie Carter, Joyce Peercy, and Barbara Atkinson.
Papaw Harold was a kind and gentle soul, a man who was always fun to be around. His smile would light up the room as he often delivered one-liners that made everyone smile and laugh. The ultimate family man who loved the Lord and never cared to lend a helping hand. No matter how you knew him, whether it was from being a mail carrier, his band "The Country Drifters", at Susie's Market, the lake, church, or maybe attending one of the many games he went to supporting his grandchildren; we are all better for knowing him.
"The measure of a man is in the lives he's touched. " -Ernie Banks
