Edwina Bell
May 7, 1939 – June 13, 2025
Gwenave "Gwen" Edwina Bell was born May 7, 1939, and departed this life Friday, June 13, 2025, reaching the age of 86 years. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Bertha Lee (Cox) Bell.
She married Marion Lee Bell on December 27, 1965. He preceded her in death.
She and Marion had no children of their own, but were very instrumental in raising their special nephews, Gerald Lynn Maxwell (Lorene) and Glen Edward Maxwell (Sandra) of Monticello.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Edwin and Bertha Bell, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Marion Lee Bell; five sisters, Zula Joerendt, Frances Pelley, Carolyn Joyce Bell, Anna Jewell Zelic, and Ina Ruth Bell who died in infancy; five brothers, Kenneth, Ray Wallace, Carl Milton, Donald Howard Bell, and Jackie Edwin Bell.
Gwen received Christ as her Savior as a teenager. She joined the Nazarene Church in 1965 where she was active for many years; serving as Sunday School Secretary for 35 years, church board member for 17 years, secretary for missionary council, worked in Bible school and children's church.
She graduated from Wayne County High School, Cumberland College with B.S. Degree, and earned her Rank II and Rank II from Western Kentucky University. She taught school for 35 years and substituted for 11 ½ years.
Her hobbies included reading, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, piecing and quilting quilts, making baskets, and scrapbooking.
Gwen touched many lives throughout the years and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2025, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held _ Monday, June 16, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Monticello Church of the Nazarene Building Fund or Gideons Bible Plan
