Guy "Wallace" Carter was born April 15, 1937 and departed this life Saturday, January 1, 2011 reaching the age of 73. He was the son of the late Collins and Pearl (Upchurch) Carter.

He was united in marriage to Marie Atkinson on December 24, 1957 and to this union 3 children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Marie Carter; 2 daughters, Vicki McGinnis and Carolyn (Anthony) Coop; 1 son, Joe (Linda) Carter; 4 grandchildren, Virginia Jones, Kimberly Carter, Joshua Coop, and Sarah Coop; 2 great grandchildren, Izabelle and Jasper Jones; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 3, 2010 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Ernest Mann officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Grove Cemetery.
