Gregory Eric Latham, Sr., 61 of Monticello, KY passed away on Tuesday, January 9th 2024 at 2:15 pm peacefully at his home surrounded by family after saying, "I want to go see God and Jesus."  In the preceding days, he had received many visits from family and friends after having returned home from UK hospital on Friday, January 5th 2024. For over 2 years Greg had fought the relentless disease of pancreatic cancer with every intention of overcoming it.  He is survived by his wife, Sandy Latham, two sons, Gregory Eric Latham, Jr., and Matthew Seth Latham, one daughter, Bethany Hope Latham (Tyler Lowe), sisters Sherry Dolen, Vicky Moreland, Jimmie Phelps (Don), Denise Sigler, and his brothers, Michael Latham (Rita) and Pat Clark.

Greg was born on September 19th 1962 to Peggy and James Latham. He served his community in multiple ways.  A Certified Public Accountant, Greg, was the City Clerk Treasurer of Monticello for over 30 years and served under five different Mayors.  He volunteered for the Wayne County Little League and was always working together with others to improve our city.  Whether he was volunteering, working at City Hall, or doing taxes through his private office, Greg was always making people laugh.

Greg enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, working in his yard, spending time with family and friends, and most recently riding his e-bike on trails and around town.  He made many friends throughout his life and was always ready to help them, as they were always ready to help him.  They were a tremendous support to him and his family. Greg will be missed by all.

Visitation will be at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday January 12th, 2024. The funeral service will be held Saturday January 13th, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Paul Stringer.  Immediately following the service, burial will take place in Elk Spring Cemetery.
