Golda Peavie was born April 2, 1927 and departed this life Tuesday, July 9, 2008 reaching the age of 81 years. She was the daughter of the late Shelby Loren Guffey and Myrtie (Stevens) Guffey.

She married Herschel Peavie and to this union four children were born.

She is survived by: 2 sons- Perry Eldon and Herschel Dale Peavie both of Monticello, KY, Geraldine Thompson of Windy, KY and Linda Pierce of Monticello, KY, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She is also survived by: two brothers- Cecil Guffey of Monticello, KY and Jessie Guffey of Albany, KY, and one sister- Nadine Bertram; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband- Herschel Guffey, one brother- James Guffey, and five sisters- Neva Rigney, Allene Cooper, Edith Franklin, Nina Piercy, and Patsy Guffey.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


Visitation: Friday, July 11th after 5 pm
Funeral Service: Saturday, July 12th at 2 pm
Interment: Gap Creek Cemetery
