IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glen
Edwards
November 9, 1940 – December 25, 2020
Glen Edwards was born on November 9, 1940 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Christmas night, December 25, 2020 at the T.J. Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky reaching the age of 80 years. He was the son of the late Oscar and Dorothy (Daniels) Edwards.
In the 8 th grade at Hidalgo school, he decided to move to Indiana to seek employment. It was there in New Castle; he met the love of his life Edna Mae Perry. They were united in marriage on July 9, 1960 in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Their marriage lasted a span of 56 years until God called her home after an extended illness on August 17, 2016.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffery (Coletta) Edwards, Keith Edwards, Lisa (George) Dishman; grandchildren, Ben, Diane, Chandra, Jeffrey, Angela, Miranda, Tori, and Trey; and great grandchildren, Logan, Kaleb, Caroline, Sadie, Jonah, Korie, Georgia, Raelynn, Harmony, Evann, Clayton, Charlee and Kimora; brothers, Carl Lynn, Roy and Jack Edwards; and sisters, Alta Jean Goldsborough and Matilda Sue McGuire; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy Edwards; his wife, Edna and a son, Glen Edwards, Jr. who passed away March 3, 2011; brothers, Wayman, Billy and Bobby Edwards; sisters, Lois Gregory, Ina Allene Vaughn and Georgia Louise Edwards.
In the early 1970's he and his family began attending the Cooper Baptist Church. He and Edna were both saved and baptized, and he soon accepted the call to preach the gospel. He became a pastor at South Main Mission where he preached for several years. They moved their membership to Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church, and he was ordained. He later attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.
He worked in construction building houses in Indiana and Kentucky but left that line of work and was employed at Gamble Brothers until its closing. He then went to work at the County Garage through the Green Thumb Program.
He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan and loved to watch old westerns and wrestling. He and Edna enjoyed going to auctions, swap meets and all around to singings. His favorite pastime was whittling. He could take a piece of cedar and whittle for hours. He collected knives and if he ever handed you a knife and said "Now be careful – that's sharp" you had better believe it was!
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed.
