Obituary
Gertie Denney was born October 11th, 1908 in the Powersburg Community of Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Friday, April 4th, 2003, reaching the age of 94 years. She was the daughter of George Hancock and Meggie Catron Hancock.
She was united in marriage to Obie Denney on February 6th, 1924 and to this union 9 children were born.
She is survived by four sons-Fred Denney of Jamestown, IN, Clyde Denney and Norman Denney both of Powersburg, KY and Thomas Denney of New Castle, IN and two daughters-Ila Stamps of Ft. Wayne, IN and Ina Hillma of Clarksville, IN. She is survived by twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Obie, one son-Clarence Denney and two daughters-Irene and Norene Denney.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-7 PM on Sunday, April 6th in the chapel.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Monday, April 7th, 2003 at 10 AM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Interment: Burial will be in the Edwards Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
