George Washington Pennycuff was born June 13, 1949, and departed this life Monday, July 6, 2026, reaching the age of 77 years. He was the son of the late Cordell Smith Pennycuff and Mary Louise (Brummet) Crabtree.

He is survived by: his children, David (Lois) Pennycuff, Patricia (Leslie) Burke, Jamie (Leslie) Tucker, Tony (Amanda) Pennycuff, JoAnna (Ricky) Jones, Phillip (Melissa) Pennycuff, and Jannie (Michael) Gregory; four brothers, James (Lou) Pennycuff, Earl Crabtree, Eddie (Dolly) Crabtree, Tobie Crabtree; three sisters, Mary Goodman, Theresa (James) Owens, and Jancie Rose; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his wife, Fronia Curtis (Huckaby), Pennycuff, he was preceded in death by: his parents, Mary Crabtree and Cordell Pennycuff; one grandson, Malcom Pennycuff; one brother, Danny Crabtree; and one sister, Brenda Moon.

George enjoyed fishing, hunting and whittling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Old Bethel Church Cemetery.
