Genell Tapley Holder was born December 13, 1944 and departed this life April 6, 2008 reaching the age of 63 years. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Robert and Pearlie Sarah (Winchester) Tapley.

She is survived by: her companion of twenty-seven years- Billy Joe Prince, and five daughters and their husbands/companions- Jody Hurt and Kevin Stanfield of Ramer TN, Abbie Holder and John Twyford, Ruth and Freddy Davis, Volena and Roger Troxell, Carlissa and Kenneth Beasley all of Monticello, KY, one son and daughter-in-law- Billy Joe and Pamela Prince, Jr. of Monticello, KY, nine grandchildren- Elvin Roy Carlos Sowell and his wife, Donna, Jason Hurt, Payton Stanfield, Brittani Holder and her boyfriend Bennie Davis, Alesha Holder and her boyfriend Jonathan Crabtree, Amanda Troxell and her boyfriend, Derek Passmore, Roger Troxell, Jr., Caleb and Natalie Prince, 4 great grandchildren- Casey Sowell Davis, Evelyn and Walter Sowell, and Hayden Davis.

She is also survived by: three brothers- Henry Tapley and Bill Duncan, both of McCreary County, and Albert Miller of Memphis, TN, and nine sisters- Ruth Hollars of Monticello, KY, Volena Ammon, Dorothy Phillips and Linda Tapley all of McCreary County, Imogene Sorrell of Flemingsburg, Brenda Tapley of Oneida, TN, Goldie Baker and Donna Bray of New Castle, IN, Gertrude Sams of Clinton, TN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her first born daughter- Carla Gene, her first born grandchild- Rebecca Gail Sowell, one sister- Evelyn Grubbs, six brothers- Elbert Miller, Harrold, Paul, Edd, Bill and Robert Tapley, and one son-in-law- Elvin Roy Sowell.

She was a loving companion, mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.


Visitation: Wednesday, April 9th after 5 pm
Funeral Service: Thursday, April 10th at 1 pm
Interment: Elk Spring Cemetery
