Gary Ray Campbell was born January 2, 1969. He was the son of Kenneth Ray Campbell and Ella Mae Corder Campbell. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae Campbell and brother, Terry Wayne Campbell.

On June 20, 1992, he was united in marriage to Karen Atkinson and to this union brought two daughters, Makayla Campbell Crowder and Mallory Campbell. He also had an amazing son-in-law, Austin Crowder. His special in-laws were Bro. Harvey and Christine Atkinson and a loving sister and brother-in-law, David and Sheila Davis. He is also survived by a nephew, Skylar Dishman, niece Sierra Price and a great niece Teagan Price.

God called Gary into the ministry in 2003 where he was a faithful and obedient servant. On May 24, 2006, he became pastor of Cooper Baptist until recently upon his death. To anyone who knew Gary, knew he was one of God's strongest soldiers. Always welcomed everyone with a big heart and an even bigger smile. He loved everyone so genuinely. If you were fortunate to have him as a friend, you had a true friend. Gary will be greatly missed but he is at home now with our Lord. He is at rest and peace.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 14, 2020 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance. You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines. No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.
