Fred Hicks was born August 22, 1926 and departed this life Monday, October 14, 2019 reaching the age of 93 years. He was the son of the late Ellis McKinley and Elizabeth (Patton) Hicks.

He married Hazel Irene Edwards and to this union three children were born.

He is survived by: three sons, Donald (and Beverly) Hicks, Ronald "Dude" (and Jean) Hicks, and Joe (and Denise) Hicks; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one sister, Gladys Carpenter; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Ellis and Elizabeth Hicks, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Hazel Hicks; one grandson, William "Joseph" Fredrick Hicks; two brothers, Marvin S. Hicks and Robertie Hicks; and two sisters, Ruby Jenkins and Martha Sue Eve.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2019 between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
