Evelyn Kelsay was born October 14, 1927 and departed this life Thursday, July 05, 2012 reaching the age of 84. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mollie (Cooper) Copenhaver.
She was united in marriage to Fount Roe Jester "R.J." Kelsay and to this union 2 children were born.
She is survived by: 1 son, Earl Kelsay; 4 grandchildren, Andrea Collins, Jill Keith, Dana Catron, and Jason Kelsay; and 6 great grandchildren, Devin Collins, Kelsay Collins, Jayden Keith, Jentry Keith, Kassidy Catron, and Kiersten Catron. She is also survived by: 1 sister, Zelene Cooper; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Robert and Mollie Copenhaver, she was preceded in death by: 1 son, Bobby Kelsay; 3 brothers, Arnold, Raymond, and Lloyd Copenhaver; and 2 sisters, Arnetha Jean Copenhaver and Pearl Flynn.
Evelyn was active in the following groups and organizations: member of Langdon St. Baptist Church; a Volunteer at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Hospice of Lake Cumberland, and teacher of AARP Safe Driving Course; Officer and Member of AARP#3375; Membership Chairman of Lake Cumberland Public Retirees; Past President of Rebekah Assembly of KY and a member of Rebekah Lodge of KY; Received a Declaration of Chivalry from Odd Fellows and Rebekah's; and Queen Mother of Jolly Red Hatters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 7, 2012, from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2012, at 2 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
