Eva Christine Hancock Jones was born on October 9, 1934 on Hancock Mountain in Wayne County and was the daughter of Mert and Florence Dishmon Hancock.

She was united in marriage to Charles Berry Jones on May 4, 1956. To this 57 year union, 6 children were born, Sandra (Mike) Britt, Ralph Jones, Audrey (Rick) Thompson, Jackie(Kim) Jones, James Allen Jones, and Dennis(Pagie) Jones.

She is survived by her husband Charles, her children and 12 grandchildren - Charlene Jones Ramirez, Christine Jones, Jennifer Jones Martinez, Josh Thompson, who precedes her in death, Wendy Thompson Foster, Andrew Thompson, Jacey Jones, Ashley Winchester, Daylynn Jones Ramirez, Casey Jones, Taylor Jones and Cody Jones. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Guy and Earl Hancock, 3 sisters, Gladys Roy, Chris Ann Neat, Bonnie Claywell and a host of nieces and nephews who also mourn her passing.

Preceding Eva in her death are her parents, Mert and Florence Dishmon Hancock, one son James Allen Jones, one grandson Joshua Thompson and his wife Kayla, one great-grandson Justin William Jones, three brothers, Fred Hancock, Carl Hancock, Osby Ray Hancock, five sisters, Glenna Hancock, Bessie Hancock, Lois Peercy, Hazel Fulton and Doris Watson.

Eva loved working in the flower garden and spending time with her family. She attended the Gap Creek Baptist Church. Eva was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her


The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5- 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. David Flagler and Bro. Gerald Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Perdue Cemetery.
