Ernest Guffey was born July 23, 1944 and departed this life Wednesday, August 3, 2011 reaching the age of 67. He was the son of Martha (Brown) Guffey and the late Elvis Guffey, Sr.

He was united in marriage to Martha Jane "Janie' White and to this union 1 child was born.

He is survived by: his wife, Janie Guffey of Monticello, KY; 1 daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Stearns of Albany, KY; and 1 grandchild, Mathew Stearns of Albany, KY. He is also survived by: his mother, Martha Guffey; 2 brothers, Junior Guffey and Dillard Guffey both of Monticello, KY; and 4 sisters, Janet Marlo, Aileene Guffey, Linda Catron all of Monticello, KY, and Caroline Davis of Elkhart, IN; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his father, Elvis Guffey, he was preceded in death by: 1 grandchild, Andrew Stearns; 1 brother, Carl Guffey; and 1 sister, Justine Guffey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Ragan and Bro. Thomas Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Gap Creek Cemetery.
