Emily Carol Jones, 79, of Monticello, Ky. Passed away at her home on May 2, 2024.  Carol was born January 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Cecil Bell and Bessie Bell Register.  She was the widow of the late Colman Jones.

Carol served as the County Court Clerk of Wayne County for 13 years.  She enjoyed her work as the Clerk, especially because it resulted in her getting acquainted with most of the citizens of the County.  She retired from her position in 2007.

Carol received Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age.  She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Monticello, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Colman Jones, one brother, Oscar Cecil Bell, and four sisters, Anna Joyce Massengale, Sue Doris Crabtree, Delores Bell, and Alice Brummett.

Carol is survived by her son, Gavin Jones, one granddaughter, Katie Jones, one sister, Mary Patton, one special niece, Nancy Worley, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends who will mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2024, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.

We, her family, wish to express our deep appreciation for the wonderful care given by three very special ladies, Lola Dobbs, Becky Phillips and Elaine Stinson, and the love and kindness shown to Carol during her illness.
