Elvis Guffey was born March 17th, 1920 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Tuesday, November 12th, 2002, reaching the age of 82 years. He was the son of the late Joe Guffey and Eva Davis Guffey.

He was united in marriage to Martha Brown Guffey and to this union nine children were born.

He is survived by his wife Martha, four sons-Ernest, Carl Stephen, Junior and Dillard Guffey, all of Monticello, KY and four daughters-Janet Lorene Marlo, Aileen Guffey, Linda Catron, and Caroline Davis, all of Monticello, KY. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

He is also survived by three sisters-Jettie Peavie, Jimmie Vincent and Jessie Turner, all of New Castle, IN, along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-Edmond Guffey.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, relative and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.


Visitation: The family will receive friends after 4 PM on Friday, November 15th, 2002 in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Saturday, November 16th at 10 AM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Old Bethel Church Cemetery.
