Elsie (Winchester) Sloan, 94, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025. Elsie was born December 3, 1930, in Wayne County. She is the daughter of the late Eulon and Treva (Gossage) Winchester and loving wife of the late Billy Sloan, whom she married on July 16, 1949.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Joann (Douglas) Wilson, Joyce (Danny) Bell, Jerry (Cindy) Sloan, and Mollie (Phillip- deceased) Dick; 9 grandchildren, Shawn (Becky) Wilson, Staci (Chris) Elam, Matthew Bell, Chris (Melissa) Sloan, Benton (Dehkota) Sloan, James (Jennifer) Sloan, Felisha (Gary) Thompson, Lora (James) Barnes, and Rebecca (Josh) Humble; 21 great grandchildren, Faith (Kalab) Ferrell, Paige (Jordan) Thrasher, Jackson Elam, Lucie Bell, Hadley Sloan, Eli Sloan, Alexis Sloan, Kennedi Sloan, Billeigh Sloan, Bennett Sloan, Nettie Sloan, Olivia Sloan, Collin Sloan, Morgan Sloan, Elsie Thompson, Katy Barnes, Logan Barnes, Macy Barnes, Dalton Humble, Sydney Humble, and Myra Humble; and 1 great-great granddaughter, Madelyn Ferrell.
She is also survived by her siblings, Emojean Hancock, Harold (Imojene) Winchester, Ruth Dick, and Ray Winchester; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Sloan, infant sister, Elva Winchester and brother Homer Winchester.
Elsie accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized on November 14, 1948, and was a member at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 77 years. She was a faithful member and prayer warrior.
Elsie was a loving, devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read her Bible, garden, work in her flowers, sew and quilt. She was a great cook and always had plenty prepared when family and friends just happen to stop by at lunch. She loved to take care of her grandchildren and shared her many talents with them.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
