Flora Elsie Dobbs was born May 25, 1930 and departed this life Sunday, July 8, 2018 reaching the age of 88 years. She was the daughter of the late Delbert Milton Dobbs and Derlie Ethel Gibson Dobbs.
She is survived by: two sons, David Lee Kidd (Janet) and Timothy Scott Kidd (Jennifer) all of Owensboro; 4 grandchildren, Susan Michelle Rushing (John) of Blanco, TX, James David Kidd of Utica, Justin Travis Kidd (Hannah) and Maegan Elizabeth Kidd all of Owensboro; 3 great granddaughters, Amanda Lee Adkisson (Gary) of Bloomington, IN, Hannah Marie Davis of Elizabethtown, and Scarlet Josephine Kidd of Utica; 1 great great granddaughter Avery Marie Crockett of Elizabethtown; one sister, Shirley Faye Sitzler of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. She is survived by special friends; her nephew, Danny and Alma Sue Kidd of Somerset, Paula Sue and Herschel Hicks and Marsha Bunch of Monticello. She leaves to mourn her passing many sisters and brothers in Christ, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her son, James Terry Kidd, a sister, Doris Irene Kidd and two brothers, Billy and Dale Dobbs.
She was a born again Christian and a faithful member of Soul Harbor Church of God, in Monticello where she served as song leader. She loved gospel singing and studying the word of God. She loved flowers and working in her garden. She enjoyed needle work and quilting. She owned and operated the Monticello Motel for many years, and in earlier life she was an avid tourist.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2018 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Soul Harbor Church.
