Ellis "Buckwheat" Godsey

Ellis “Buckwheat” Godsey was born June 26, 1964, and departed this life Saturday, October 24, 2026, reaching the age of 62 years. He was the son of the late Ellis “Curly” and Pauline (Daniels) Godsey.

He is survived by: two sons, Josh Godsey and Justin Godsey; two daughters, Lashanda Godsey and Stephanie Godsey; and four grandchildren, Randy Hicks, Cheyenne Hicks, Avery Foster, and Peyton Foster. He is also survived by: one brother, Jerry Godsey; and two sisters, Marilyn Paige and Lena Dishman; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Curly and Pauline Godsey, he was preceded in death by: three sisters, Alma “Jeannie” Thompson, Laurina Mae Piercy, and Masel Baker.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
