Elizabeth "Betty" Burgess was born February 23, 1936 and departed this life Tuesday, April 19, 2011 reaching the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Bradford and Dovie (Jones) Ballou.

She was united in marriage on June 19, 1953 to Paul Burgess and to this union 3 children were born.

She is survived by: 1 son, Mark Burgess of Heathrow, FL; 2 daughters, Marilyn Brann of Monticello, KY and Rita Andrews of Apex, NC; and 5 grandchildren, Kam Crantill, Jared VanArsdall, Eric VanArdsdall, Vincenzo Burgess and Antonio Burgess. She is also survived by: 4 brothers, Donald "Duck" Ballou and Jimmy Ballou both of Monticello, KY, George Ballou of Wannamaker, IN, and Frank Ballou of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sisters, Bonnie Pike of Indianapolis, IN and Lela Hunton; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Bradford and Dovie Ballou, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul Burgess; 3 brothers, Junior Jones, Charles Ballou, and Edward Ballou; and 1 sister, Lona Brooks.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11 am at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Morrow and Bro. Donald Hunton officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
