Eleanor Southwood was born December 16, 1924 and departed this life November 30, 2010 reaching the age of 85. She was the daughter of the late Luther and Loni (Koger) Alexander.

She was united in marriage to Irvin Southwood and to this union 5 children were born.

She is survived by: 3 sons, Forrest (Phyllis) Southwood, Lynn Southwood, and Robert Southwood; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by: 1 brother, Bobby Alexander; and 1 sister, Ora Guffey; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Irvin Southwood; 1 son, Gary Southwood; 3 brothers, James, Clarence, and Bill Alexander; and 1 sister, Clara.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Henry Stringer and Bro. Darrell Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Parnell Baptist Church Cemetery.
