Effie Lovelace passed away at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky on April 26, 2010. She had been a resident at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Bowling Green for the past six years. She was 83 years old.
She was born July 31, 1926 at Barbourville, Kentucky and raised in Monticello, Kentucky. She was the daughter of James Albert and Mary Elizabeth Crabtree Morris.
She was married for 48 years to Rev. Kenneth Lovelace who preceded her in death. To this union three children were born, Mary Eva Williams, Brenda Jean Lovelace, and Kenneth David Lovelace. She and her husband lived in Monticello for several years and then the couple moved to other towns in Kentucky where her husband served as a United Methodist minister for 30 years.
She was a homemaker and was active in the work of the church serving as Sunday school teacher, choir member and the United Methodist Women.
After her husband's death in 1990, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Walter and Mary Eva Williams in New Jersey, returning to Monticello each spring to spend time with family and friends. In 1999 she and her daughter and son-in-law moved back to Kentucky.
Survivors include: Mary Eva Williams of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Douglas K. Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, and Teresa Ann Steiner of Bowling Green, Kentucky; six grandsons, Peter W. Steiner of Nashville, Tennessee, Brian D. Steiner of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jonathan Kenneth Williams-Estevez, Anthony Alexander Williams-Estevez, Aladi Douglas Williams-Estevez, and Christian Jose Williams-Estevez of Atlanta, Georgia; and 1 sister, Mrs. Marylene Taylor of Monticello, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James A. and Mary E. Morris; 1 daughter, Brenda Jean Lovelace; 1 son, Kenneth David Lovelace; sisters, Beulah Morris, Stella Doss, and Ella Mae Mays; brothers, Hershel Morris, Bill Morris, Ellis Morris, Lloyd Morris, Sr., Gene Morris, Howard Jack Morris and Neal Morris.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 29, 2010 between 6 – 8 pm (EST) in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11 am (EST) at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Byrd officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
