Edward Samuel Sanders was born March 9, 1941, and departed this life Sunday, February 26, 2023, reaching the age of 81 years. He was the son of the late William Ezra and Ruby Lee (Knight) Sanders.

He married Shirley Denny and to this union eight children were born.

He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Shirley Sanders; eight children, Sheila McGarry, Shanda Fuentes, Doug Sanders, Dallas Sanders, Sharlene Prince, Lisa Duncan, Vickie Mason, and Carol Dishman; granddaughters and great granddaughters, Paula, Crystal, Britnee, and Jamison, along with numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Lavada Russell, Wanda Poteet, Hildred Moore, Anderson Sanders, James Earl Sanders, Janice Plumber, Randall Sanders, Brenda Shoemake, and Tammy Hartsfield; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, William Ezra and Ruby Lee Sanders, he was preceded in death by: three siblings, Carol Irwin, Charles Mitchell Sanders and Ramond Sanders.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
