Edna Mae Hughes was born November 25, 1948, and departed this life Sunday, April 2, 2023, reaching the age of 74 years. She was the daughter of the late Shade and Sara (Crabtree) Sexton.

She is survived by: two sons, David "Bear" Hughes (Henrietta) and Mark Hughes (Sheila); one daughter, Sheila Sexton; five grandchildren, Tyler Hughes (Aissia), Malesha Hughes, Mariah Hughes, Dustin Bell and Brent Sexton (Gabby); nine great grandchildren, Walker Hughes, Kayson Denney, Gentry Coy, Bryar Southworth, Cali Dishman, Rylan Dishman, Elijah Foster, Bobby Bell and Travis Sexton; and three grandbabies on the way, Abel Bell, Maverick Sexton, and Emberly Button.

She is also survived by: two sisters, Annabelle Dobbs and Lena Sexton; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Shade and Sara Sexton, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Jimmie Hughes; one daughter, Melissa Faye Hughes; and two brothers, Charles Ray Sexton and James Estill "Jug" Sexton.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Sandusky Cemetery.
