Obituary

Earl Wooton was born May 27, 1925 and departed this life Tuesday, June 7, 2022 reaching the age of 97 years. He was the son of the late Harrison and Emily (Melton) Wooton. His birthplace was Wooton, KY.

He was a proud Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific for 5 years. He had a number of jobs throughout his life but the closest to his heart was sharing his love for Jesus Christ. He felt God's call in his life to enter into Christian service and in 1956 became a home missionary in central Kentucky, working in Sunday Schools, Bible schools, and Camps in 11 counties. In 1968 he came to Wayne County to become pastor of Old Bethel Bible Church where he served for many years.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn Louise Ward in 1945. He is survived by his five children, Earline (Bob) Anderson of Searcy, AR, Louise (Bro. Keith) McKim of Monticello, KY, Earl, Jr. (Fran) Wooton of Fort Smith, AR, Breta (Bruce) Camilleri of Xenia, OH, Sam (Tonia) Wooton of Bowling Green, KY; a special friend, Theresa Edwards; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katie Lou; his parents, Harrison and Emily Wooton, and 10 siblings, Eva Arvin, Sterle Wooton, Odra Moore, Ella Oney, Nola Sowder, James Wooton, Bruce Wooton, Jocephas Wooton, Shirley McClaughlin, and Esther Wooton.

Earl Wooton was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He was loved and will be missed.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:30 am at the Old Bethel Bible with burial to follow.  Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter 105.
