Dorothy Bertram Hicks was born April 6, 1939, and departed this life Tuesday, September 22, 2026, reaching the age of 87 years. She was the daughter of the late Marshall Elzo and Martha Lois Peercy.

She married Marvin “Pete” Bertram on February 20, 1954, and to this union they had four children. Pete passed away July 17, 1979. Dorothy married Dallas Hicks on January 17, 1990; Dallas passed away July 26, 2013.

Dorothy is survived by: her children, Karen Richardson (Larry), Keith Bertram (Sharon), David Bertram (Sharon); and stepchildren, Shannon Flagler (David) and Derek Hicks (Cheryl). She was Mima to five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren. She is also survived by: two sisters, Retha Brumley and Wilma York; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by: by one son, Stevie Wayne Bertram, who lived only 3 days; and two sisters, Mary Lois Bowen and Joyce Sexton.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2026, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Gap Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
