Derrick Paul Owens, age 40, of Alpha, Kentucky, passed away on August 19, 2026.

Born April 19, 1986, Derrick was the beloved son of Lloyd Haskell Owens and Rita Marie Bline Owens. He was a dearly loved brother to Brandy Lynn Shoemaker, Bridgett Lee LaFevers, Garrett Michael Clark, Lloyd Mitchell Owens, and Abigail Marie Owens. He also dearly loved his Granny, Rebecca Owens, and was cherished by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Haskell Owens, and Mona and Tom Bline; and his uncle, Floyd Benton Owens 

Derrick loved his family deeply and treasured the time he spent with the people closest to him. He found happiness at home and took great pride in growing and caring for plants. He also enjoyed sports and cars and had a strong love for God.

Derrick was a light in a dark world. His presence, his love, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm at Old Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 1 pm at the Old Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
