Obituary

David Lee Turner was born June 21, 1955, and departed this life Monday, August 17, 2026, reaching the age of 71 years. He was the son of the late Ovie and Ruby (Harris) Turner.

He married Kathy Ballou and to this union two children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Kathy Turner; two sons, Matthew Turner (Toni) and Ryan Turner (Penny); three grandchildren, Jonathon Branscum, Addison Turner and Katelyn Turner; and one brother, Phillip Bruce Turner (Luta Ellen Turner, dec.); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

David was an avid bowling enjoyer where he took his competitive spirit to the lanes in local leagues. He enjoyed being outdoors 4-wheeling, or keeping the most manicured lawn in Meadow Creek. He had a knack for woodworking, and was known as the family handyman as he always had the fix or right tool on hand. But most of all, he enjoyed sharing experiences and stories with his family.

He retired from American Woodmark, after working there for 20 years. David was a proud veteran of the National Guard, where he earned the nickname “Speedy.”

David had been baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ at Mill Springs Christian Church.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
