David W. Hicks was born September 4, 1940 and departed this life Wednesday, November 25, 2020 reaching the age of 80 years. He was the son of the late Charlie and Lila (Pyles) Hicks.

He is survived by: his wife, Linda (Silvers) Hicks; 5 sons, Terry (Penny) Hicks, Donald (Melinda) Hicks, Johnny (Patty) Hicks, Ricky Hicks and Darrell (Trish) Hicks; 1 sister, Allene (Hicks) Prater; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 1 daughter, Lesa Jane Hicks; 1 great-grandson, James Allen Bone; 2 brothers, Lincoln & Odelle Hicks; and 2 sisters, Bessie Cook & Loraine Riddle.

Papa had the BEST fried chicken around town. He will be loved and dearly missed.

PRIVATE funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance. As the number of attendees is limited to 25 people only, a list will be provided to the funeral home by the family.  You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines. No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.
