Curtis Hale Southwood age 87, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away on Thursday May 1, 2025, surrounded by his wife and son.

Curtis was born on October 21, 1937, in Monticello, Kentucky, son of the late Bertha (Bell) Southwood and Eskel Southwood.

Curtis was a hard worker and married childhood sweetheart. After the loss of their first child they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. There he started working in a factory making furniture. After leaving there he went to Dependable Products and became a machinist where he made some parts for the first ship to land on the moon. He took his family to Trinity Baptist Church in Southport, Indiana. There he became the Sunday School Director, deacon and eventually surrendered to the ministry. Since that time he has pastored Churches in Indiana, Kentucky and Oklahoma. His passion in life was soul winning which he continued till his death.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Phyllis Emilee Southwood, his son Dwayne Southwood. He is also survived by five Grandchildren Richard Southwood, Shannon Johnson, Kelly Nicholas, Jonathan Southwood and Bekah Algard. Nine Great Grandchildren. Two Sisters and one Brother. He was preceded in death by his parents Eskel and Bertha (Bell) Southwood, His son Curtis Douglas and Judy Mae (Brown) Southwood, son Richard Hale Southwood. One Great grandchild, four brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Parnell Baptist Church Cemetery.
