Destel Clyde Davis was born January 1, 1922 and departed this life Monday, May 22, 2017 reaching the age of 95.

Clyde was the youngest son and last surviving child of the late John and Louiza Gregory Davis. He married Zula Lexie Perkins on July 6, 1940. They were blessed with six children: Gene (Vern) Davis, Ralph (Carolyn) Davis, Kenny (Rita) Davis, Bruce (Donna) Davis, Sandy (Junior) Worley and Gary Lee Davis; nine grandchildren: Susan (Tom) Price, Angie (David) Sidwell, Shannon (Tony) McCracken, Kellie (Shannon) Carter, R.G. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years; his son, Gary Davis; five brothers: Arthur, Marvin, Lee, Bill, Willie and a half brother, Wes Gregory; five sisters, Ida Brown, India Simpson, Lizzie Dishman, Ruby Jenkins and Norma Webb.

Clyde was a World War II veteran, in the US Army Infantry Division, serving his country in Pearl Harbor and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Clyde was a faithful member of the Monticello Church of Christ. Amazingly at age 95 he was able to drive himself to the Sunday morning worship services and the next day he entered the hospital for the last time.
