Charles Berry Jones was born on October 8th, 1932 and departed this life on Saturday, June 17, 2017 reaching the age of 84. He was the son of the late Clarence and India Jones.
He was united in marriage to Eva Christine Hancock Jones on May 4th, 1956. They were married for 57 years before her passing on September 4th, 2013. To this union six children were born. Sandra (Mike) Britt, Ralph Jones, Audrey (Rick) Thompson, Jackie (Vicky) Jones, James Allen Jones and Dennis (Paige) Jones.
He is survived by his children, Sandra, Ralph, Audrey, Jack and Dennis. 10 Grandchildren, Charlene Jones, Christine Flores, Jennifer Jones Martinez, Wendy Thompson Foster, Andrew Thompson, Jacey Jones, Daylynn Jones Ramirez, Casey Jones, Taylor Jones and Cody Jones. 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. One Brother, Jess Jones and seven sisters, Lois Sloan, Madeline Crowe, Mary Brumley, Della Jones, Leta Hammond, Connie Woolery and Buna Harris. Three Aunts, Audrey Burchett, Mary Jane Reagan and Nettie Denney and a host of nieces and nephews who also morn his passing.
Preceding him in his death is his wife, Eva Christine, his parents, Clarence and India Jones, one son, James Allen Jones, one grandchild, Josh and his wife Kayla Thompson, one great grandson Justin William Jones and one brother James Morehead Jones.
Charles was born in the Simpson Branch Community now known as the Susie Community at Double Head College Academy. Later in his teenage years he met the love of his life Eva at a church service. They moved to Union City, IN where he worked for five years at the Hardee's Manufacturing Company. He also worked in Union City, OH. This was where hubcaps where made for vehicles.
Around 1959, they moved back to Windy, KY where he worked hard on the farm. His farming interest was poultry houses, dairy and beef cattle along with raising tobacco for many years. He was recognized in 1966 for the best egg producer of the year.
Charles accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Gap Creek Baptist Church on October 20th, 1946. He then re-dedicated his life and was baptized on January 2, 2011 where attended Gap Creek faithfully until his illness prevented him from attending. He was a great witness to his family and friends.
Charles was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Perdue Cemetery.
