Charles Scott Dishman, better known as John, was born June 14, 1944, and departed this life Wednesday, October 7, 2026, reaching the age of 82 years. He was the son of the late Otto and Aderine (Lowe) Dishman.
He married June Marilyn Davis and to this union two children were born.
He is survived by: his wife, June Dishman; two sons, Johnny J. Dishman and Jerry Dishman; grandchildren, Christy Elaine Abbott and Daniel Isaiah Dishman; and great grandchildren, Will Brown, Ruger Abbott, Oakley Abbott, Renley Abbott, and Reid Dishman.
He is also survived by: three brothers, James Perk Dishman, Homer Ike Dishman, and Jimmy Dishman; one sister, Illa Jane Pyles; and his close friend, Clyde Upchurch; along with a host of family and friends who mourn him passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: four brothers, Hobert Lee Dishman, Goble Dee Dishman, Billy Jason Dishman, and Jackie Kay Dishman; one sister, Gladys Lorene Owens; and special nephew, Brian Wayne Dishman.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2026, between 12 pm – 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2026, at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Dishman Cemetery.
