Charles T. Bates was born June 14, 1939 and departed this life Tuesday, April 08, 2014 reaching the age of 74 years. He was the son of the late James "Jim" Bates and Daisy Edith (Melton) Bates.

He is survived by: his wife, Carrie Bates; one son, Charles (Tina) Bates, Jr.; and 2 grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Tommy and Danny Bates; and four sisters, Thelma Lovell, Edith Wesley, Shirley Lundy, and Mary Upchurch; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Jim and Daisy Bates, he was preceded in death by: one son, Henry Allen Bates; one great grandchild, Jackin Giles; five brothers, William, Bobby, James Phillip, Samuel, and one who died in infancy; and two sisters, Josephine Kellogg and Nancy Bates.

Funeral services will be privately held for family only.
