Obituary - Carson Junior Dean
NOTICE: Due to COVID-19, private graveside services will be held on September 19, 2021, in Monticello, with burial at Elk Springs Cemetery.
Born on October 30, 1943, Junior Dean departed this world in a peaceful passing at NHC Nursing Home on September 13, 2021, after a battle with lung cancer. A lifetime resident of Monticello, Kentucky, he graduated from Wayne County High School in 1964 and attended Eastern Kentucky University briefly before he started working at General Motors in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a lifetime member of Old Charity Baptist Church and attended Steubenville Baptist Church in Monticello. Junior was the son of Herman A. Dean and Cora Eva Stringer-Dean.
Junior was an avid fan of UK sports, especially basketball. NHC staff and visitors always recognized Junior because of his UK attire and friendly demeanor. Junior was always surrounded by a host of loving family and caretakers. When he lived in Monticello, he frequented the Cumberland Dairy, the senior center, Dairy Queen, and the pool hall. He also loved family gatherings for holidays, birthdays and vacations. He was always quick to give his last dollar to any child and a smile and wave to any friend or stranger.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Gale Dean (Indianapolis). He leaves behind his sister: Mildred Irene (Shelby "Cap", deceased) Bunch of Monticello, three nieces: Vivian (Bobby Lee) Hurt of Glasgow, Betty (Laman) Stark of Carrolton, and Mary (Phil) Glass of Monticello, and two nephews: Buddy (Tammy) Dean and Billy Chaffin (deceased). Junior also had three great-nieces: CheyAnne (Shane) Fant, Leah (Zach) Spencer, Melissa Chaffin and five great-nephews: Chris (Jennifer) Chaffin, Lucas (Amber) Hurt, Corey (Leah) Stark, Kyle Dean & Ryan Dean. He was also the great-great-uncle to five nieces and two nephews: Kyle Houts, Luke Chaffin, Elle Spencer, Will Fant, Jaiden Marion, Dean Fant, Jaxson Hurt, Blakley Hurt, Cora Spencer, Ryan Stark, and Derek Chaffin and one great-great-great nephew Oliver Houts.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Steubenville Baptist Church Youth Programs at 222 Kings Highway, Monticello, KY 42633.
