Carrie "Ruth" Guffey was born May 16, 1929 and departed this life Monday August 28, 2023 at the age of 94 years. She was the daughter of the late Marion and Lydia Jane Davidson.

She married Marshall Guffey on September 14, 1946 and to this union two sons were born, Danny and Terry Guffey.

She is survived by: two sons, Danny Guffey (Mary) and Terry Guffey; two grandchildren Allison (Guffey) Dishman (Brian) and Drew Guffey (Stephanie); three great grandchildren Cayleb Rice, Aidan Rice and Christian Rice; 3 special nieces Melissa Eads, Melanie Eads, and Cynthia Craft; along with a host of family and friends who morn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Marion and Lydia Jane Davidson she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Marshall Guffey. Along with three brothers, Dallas, Ernest, and George Davidson; three sisters, Eula Denny, Ethel Ragan, and Ruby Bowers.

Ruth accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and joined Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church at Sumpter, Kentucky where she grew up. She later moved her membership to First Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023 between 12 pm – 2 pm at the Monticello First Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2 pm.  Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
