Carl Ray Doss was born in Monticello, KY on April 7, 1942 to the late John Henry Doss and the late Maude Sumpter Doss Decker.  He departed this life on January 19, 2019 at his home on Furnace Mountain Road in Monticello.

He is survived by his daughters, Heidi Pohler and Jennifer Reeves and grandsons, Aron Pohler and Sebastian Reeves all of Indiana. Also surviving is his sister, Nancy Lowe and brothers, Henry and Jerry Doss all of Monticello, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is also survived by his companion and caretaker, Naomi Doss.

Besides his parents, preceding him in death was his sisters, Irene Adkins and Shirley Sexton as well as his brother, Dennis "Buddy" Doss.

Carl was raised in Missouri Hollow area of Wayne County and at an early age moved to Indiana where he joined the United States Army in 1960 and served until 1962.

Upon discharge from the Army Carl began his working career in Indiana at different jobs including being self-employed in the construction field before retiring from the DANA Corporation after working for them for many, many years.

Carl loved old muscle cars, but his true passion and love was motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons. Carl built motorcycles from the ground up to fit him.  He was known to build the sharpest and the fastest motorcycles to be found anywhere.

But what meant most to Carl was his family and friends. He had an especially close relationship with his sister, Nancy.  Carl was always known as a super nice guy who would give you the very shirt off his back or shoes off his feet.  He was always seen with a smile on his face and he loved to laugh, and he made friends wherever he went.

Carl, at an early age, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior during a tent revival and recently confirmed his belief in Jesus Christ.

Carl left this life loving and being loved.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.  Full military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
