CHARLES ALEXANDER (C.A.) McFARLAND was born December 23rd, 1918 in the Bart Community of Russell County, Kentucky and departed this life Thursday, June 26th, 2003, reaching the age of 84 years. He was the son of the late Robert "Bob" McFarland and Letty Barnes McFarland.

He was united in marriage to Lena Southwood McFarland and to this union two children were born.

He is survived by his wife Lena and two sons-Gordon and Calvin McFarland, all of Monticello, KY. He is survived by four grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers-Melvin McFarland of Monticello, KY and Tom McFarland of Largo, Florida and two sisters-Irene Kinnett of Monticello, KY and Virginia Atwood of Daytona Beach, Florida, along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He served his country bravely during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. He was a farmer and served as Wayne County Tax Commissioner for two terms.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, relative and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation: The family will receive friends after 5 PM on Saturday, June 28th, 2003 in the chapel.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Sunday, June 29th at 2 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Interment: Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
