Betty Jean Criswell was born February 5, 1944, and departed this life Wednesday, March 12, 2025, reaching the age of 81 years. She was the daughter of the late Herman Hammond and Gertie Sexton.

She is survived by: one daughter, Anna Bensman (Brad); one son, Mark Criswell (Melissa); four grandchildren, Austin Dakota Criswell (Bailey), Carrie Mae Criswell, Hunter Michael Bensman, and Taylor Ann Bensman; and one great grandchild, Callahan Criswell. She is also survived by:  one brother, Jack Hammond; and one sister, Sharlene Wharton; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Luther Criswell; one son, James Eldon Criswell; and two sisters, Yvonne Jones and Connie Flint.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2025, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Criswell Cemetery.
