BERNICE FISCHELS VAN NICE was born November 4th, 1927 in Gilbertville, Iowa and departed this life Saturday, June 17th, 2006 reaching the age of 78 years. She was the daughter of (the late) Andrew Jake Fischels and Stella Bouvy Fischels.

She was united in marriage to James Van Nice on April 9th, 1947 and to this union 11 children were born.

She is survived by her husband James, 8 sons-David (Carol) Van Nice, Thomas (Sandra) Van Nice, Robert (Cyndi) Van Nice, James (Kaye) Van Nice, Daniel (Alma) Van Nice, Michael (Rozanne) Van Nice, Patrick (Judy) Van Nice, John (Sherry) Van Nice and 3 daughters-Mary Jo (Ray) Ruiz, Sue (John) Belt and Theresa (Donald) Knott. She is survived by 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers and six sisters, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by 2 siblings.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Visitation: The family will receive friends after 5 PM on Sunday, June 18th, 2006 in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be held Monday, June 19th, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church..
