Barbara Helen Shelton was born April 12, 1944, and departed this life Thursday, June 27, 2024, reaching the age of 80 years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby (Melton) Branham.

She is survived by: her husband, Kenneth Ralph Shelton; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Thomas and Ruby Branham, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Barney Branham; one sister, Nancy Whitehead; and her step dad, Roy Whitehead.

Barbara was born in Burkesville, Kentucky and lived as a child with her loving grandparents. After graduating high school and marrying her husband, they moved to Chicago, Illinois for work.

There she worked at a few different places but landed a job at 3M Company where she dedicated 36 years. She had many friends there, women and men alike, but she loved them all and loved to tell stories about her job and all the fun she had.

She was an avid animal lover and had several dogs that she cherished – Charlie, Tommy, Samantha and especially Bear. Her other passion was cars; she loved fast cars and power. She liked NASCAR and Richard Petty.

She had other interests: sewing, knitting, and playing her organ.

She was one of a kind and will be missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery in Clinton County.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to:  Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
