Asa "A.P.' Sexton was born January 11, 1941, and departed this life April 13, 2024, reaching the age of 83 years. He was the son of the late Otis and Edith (Ferguson) Sexton.

He married Florence Robinson on February 14, 1966, and to this union four children were born.

He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Florence Sexton; four children, Paula (Mark) Groce of Albany, Allen (Miranda) Sexton of Albany, Penny (Jeremy) Abbott of Monticello and Pam (Jeremy) Smith of Van Wert, OH; 9 grandchildren, Samantha Sexton, Beth (Matt) Miller, C.J. Sexton, A. J. (Melissa) Smith, Amie Jones, Andrew Sexton, Brittany Sexton, Jessie Smith, and Matt Sexton; 10.5 great grandchildren and 2 bonus great grandchildren. He is also survived by: 4 siblings, William (Wanda) Sexton, Rosemary Collins, Larry (Sharon) Sexton, and Jerry (Gail) Sexton; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

A.P. was a school bus driver for 28 years for the Wayne County School District; transporting children, not only back and forth to school, but also band students and cheerleaders to their events as well.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2024, between 6-9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter 105.
