Arvel Benton Koontz was born Janurary 3, 1943 and departed this life Sunday, October 27, 2019 reaching the age of 76 years. He was the son of the late Delbie and Dora Lee (Barnes) Koontz.

He married Wilma (Morris) Koontz and to this union 2 children were born.

He is survived by: his wife Wilma Koontz; 1 son, Barton Koontz; 1 daughter, Demetra (John) Cooper; 1 brother, Gary (Julie) Koontz; 4 sisters, Phyllis Neeley, Gwendolyn (Randall) Morrow, Lorene Barnett and Hazel Dick; 3 Grandchildren, Allison J., Clayton T. and Lindsey E. Cooper; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Jimmy and Edward Koontz; 3 sisters, Debra G. Koontz, Earlene Barnett and Cleo Coffey.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 5 until 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
