IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur
Durkie
July 24, 1935 – April 26, 2014
Arthur Durkie was born July 24, 1935 and passed away April 26, 2014 at the Wayne County Hospital after a long and courageous battle with multiple cancers. He was 78 years old. He was the son of the late Arthur and Blanche Durkie.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Glenna Durkie; stepchildren, Amy Rainwater (Robert), Vanessa Parmley (Richard), Bobby Troxell (Debi), Eddie Rutherford and Brenda Rutherford; one brother, Doug Durkie of Port Charlotte, Florida. He is preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Durkie.
He is also survived by 7 step grandchildren, Ryan & Katlin Rainwater, Quentyn, Savannah and Dalten Parmley, Robbie Troxell, and Rachel Rediker. He considered his stepchildren and step grandchildren as his own and treated them that way.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member of Roger's Grove Baptist Church. He loved his church and enjoyed helping build the new church until his health no longer allowed him to.
Arthur was a Veteran serving in the Marine Corps for six years.
He loved to cut up and joke with everyone. That's what helped him get through his sickness. He was very talented, he could fix anything and he enjoyed gardening, having bon fires and cookouts with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed. Our lives are forever changed.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
