Andrew Ellis Abbott was born September 8, 1921 and departed this life Wednesday, April 29, 2009 reaching the age of 87 years. He was the son of the late Joe and Rona Bay (Decker) Abbott.

He was united in marriage to Velma Zimmerman and to this union five children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Velma Abbott of Monticello, KY, four children: Mary Kuhn of Indianapolis, IN, Lymon Abbott of Monticello, KY, Joyce Eaton of Glasgow, KY and Delbert Abbott of Columbia, KY. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Joe and Rona Abbott, he was preceded in death by one son-Bobby Joe Abbott, two great grandchildren, three sisters-Thelma Brummett, Della Hurt and Lena Denney and one half-brother-William Abbott.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation: The family will receive friends after 6 PM on Friday, May 1st, 2009 in the chapel.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Denney officiating.
Interment: Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery
