Alta was born in Cartwright, KY on August 9, 1943 to Paul and Marie Cooper Perdue, she accepted the Lord as her Savior in 1969 at the Highway Holiness Church. She went to Heaven on October 24, 2010 to meet the Lord and reunite with her husband Curley, who only had to wait three months to be back by her side, reaching the age of 67. She married her one true love on October 6, 1962 and raised three children in a loving Christian home. She had a strong Christian faith and truly believed in the power of daily prayer. She always had a kind word for anyone that was near her.
She enjoyed going to church, tending to her garden and flowers. She wanted to have a home for children that needed one, if only for a little while. She opened her home to foster care in 1985 and has been known to over 100 foster children as "Mom" or "Nanny". She loved taking trips with her family and spending time with her grandchildren who she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 11 am at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Lee, Bro. Bobby Sexton, Bro. Leonard Carroll, and Bro. Darrell Ragan officiating. Burial will be in Davis Chapel Cemetery.
