Obituary

Alma Lorene Stinson Neal was born June 12, 1932 to Francis and Marie Stinson. She was the 2nd child of 13 children.

On April 10, 1951 she married Earl Neal to whom she enjoyed 62 ½ years of marriage. Within these 62 ½ years their 3 children were born: two sons, Harold Neal, Bruce (Julie) Neal, and one daughter, Vickie (Paul) Parmley; six grandchildren, Amanda Sharpe, Adam Neal, Myla and Micha Neal, Brittany and Shelby Parmley; five great grandchildren, Katie and Gracie Chaplin, Cade Sharpe, Silas Neal, and Ty Webb.

These grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. She loved for them to be at Mamaw and Popie's house.

She is survived by her siblings: five brothers, Stanley, Russell, Larry, Bill, and Cecil; and five sisters, Thelma Dishman, Ada Hancock, Carol Gregory, Peggy Sexton, and Judy Hansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Wendell Stinson; one sister, Josephine Dishman; and one great grandchild, Trevor Neal.

She enjoyed their family farm; always right beside Earl, working as hard as any man could. Tending tobacco, corn, hay and raising cattle. While still helping with the farm, she also went to work at the shirt factories; where she spent a lot of years and made many friends.

She was a wonderful seamstress, and could cook like no other, loved fixing Sunday dinners and having all the family together. Their house was the "meeting spot" for all the 4-wheelers to meet. Their 50th anniversary was spent with a long enjoyable ride to Slagle Hollow to a cabin where we cooked out and 54 4-wheelers followed.

All these were memories made and will remain in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 5 – 9 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Smith and Bro. Danny Leffew officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to:
